Sen. Paul Supports Executive Order Regarding Regulations

US Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is applauding President Donald Trump's executive order requiring federal agencies to eliminate two existing regulations for each new one they introduce.

The order establishes a regulatory budget that offsets new costs with the savings gained from repealing two current regulations.

“Today's action is a refreshing and long-overdue change from the big government status quo in Washington,” said Sen. Paul. “Overzealous regulators have crushed Kentucky’s industries and job creators under their decrees, and this is a promising start to unshackling Kentuckians from unnecessary interference.”

Earlier this month, Sen. Paul reintroduced the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act. Sen. Paul says it requires that Congress affirmatively approve every new “major rule” proposed by the executive branch before it can be enforced.

A “major rule” would be any federal rule or regulation with an economic impact of $100 million or more, causing a major increase in costs or prices, or causing significant adverse effects on the economy.
