It's a contagious disease that's spreading across counties in central Indiana. But, health officials all over the state are warning Hoosiers of the dangers of Shigellosis.

In Marion County, health officials are dealing with a Shigellosis outbreak. The germs get transferred in swimming pools.

It's typically spread by someone with a bowel problem or if diapers are changed close to the water. Swallowing pool water is often how you get it.
So far, there haven't been any cases reported in Southern Indiana. It's a good reminder to practice safe swimming habits.
