Evansville's mayor helped Ark Crisis Child Care Center officials cut the ribbon on their newly expanded building this morning.
The addition allows the center to help 40 percent more children stay safe from abuse and neglect.
"Ark really is a staple in this community," said Executive Director Angie Richards Cooley. "We're so lucky to have this organization here. It's the only crisis center of it's kind in the entire state. We help between 2,000-3,000 children each year with a safe and free place to be when their families are going through crisis or stress."
Mayor Winnecke also issued a proclamation that today is "Ark Crisis Child Care Center Day."
