Vincennes Police make an arrest involving several recent burglaries. 20-year-old Garrett Melton is charged with theft, 3 counts of burglary, fraud on a financial institution, possession of stolen property, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and probation violation.

Police say they responded to an alarm call at McCoy's Grocery on W. Minneapolis at just before 1 a.m. this morning. Officers discovered the store had been broken into, and items were missing.

Police secured a search warrant for a West Jefferson Ave. home near McCoy's Grocery. That's where they recovered the stolen items from burglaries reported Thursday morning including Bethlehem General Baptist Church on W. Jefferson and from a home on W. Eberwine.

Additional burglaries that police believe are connected include Quickies Sandwich Shop, Superior Auto, Impressed Coffee, Halter's Market all on N. 6th, and Norge Village and Cleaners on E. St. Clair.

Investigators took Melton into custody at his home. He is being held in Knox County Jail tonight.
