Days after gun shots ring out on Evansville's east side, two men are arrested and facing attempted murder charges.

33 year old, Demetrius Fingers, was gunned down and shot seven times last Friday. Family members say Finger's condition is improving. So far, officials believe they have linked two men to that Friday night shooting, but say there could be more people involved.

"You never know when it's going to hit your home." Since the shooting of his nephew, Danny Thomas says he and his family have been rattled with emotion. "I don't know what the reason was, or why he got shot," says Thomas.

Demetrius Fingers was shot seven times Friday March 7th on Blackford Avenue. Relatives say Fingers might have known one of his alleged gunmen. Police say 24 year old, Lanico Payne, pulled the trigger. He was arrested at the Marathon on Burkhardt and Virginia.

"There were a few more guys that were with him. It's just a matter of time before they are going to get picked up," says Thomas. Payne and 22 year old, Todd Covington, are charged with attempted murder. Covington made news just Tuesday for an unrelated crime after running from police. "I just hate to see these young kids out here messing their lives up for whatever reason it is. Who wants to end up in prison for the rest of your life," says Thomas.

As these young men are about to make their way through the courts, Thomas looks forward to Demetrius' recovery. "He's a fighter, so the thing about it is, he knows how to survive. He's the type of man that wont give up."

Today the Indiana State Police, Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Marshal's Service Task Force came together to arrest Payne. He is in the Vanderburgh County jail without bond.
