Miller also responds to crashes on the interstate and just this week, his own cruiser was hit while he was responding to a crash. Last month, Trooper Miller was in the right place at the right time to make a big difference in one woman's life. "I couldn't even see the woman who was choking from where I was until Trooper Miller stood up. He walked over to her, put his arms around her and that's when I realized what was going on," says Ted Clamme, a fellow ISP officer.
Miller explains, "She stood up, I walked toward her, asked her if she was choking. She gave the 'nod,' I gave a couple of Heimlich Manuevers."
Trooper Miller's co-workers say that's just par for the course, "Trooper Miller, he's just, simply put- he's a good guy, a good person. He's always there when you need it."
When Trooper Miller isn't doing bus inspections or working wrecks on Indiana highways. He's also very active in Posey County schools, coaching wrestling and football, "I spend from August to March, every day after school from 3-6 at North Posey Junior High or High School." And for the kids, Trooper Miller is more than just a coach. "Most of the students know who I am- they know i'm a trooper with the Indiana State Police, and they love to come up and talk to me."
And so we salute Indiana State Trooper Brad Miller, serving his community Behind the Badge.
