Evansville Police Arrest Suspect In West Side Shooting

Evansville Police have arrested Travis Phelps and charged him with attempted murder.

EPD said the 21-year-old fired a gun into a car on Edgewood Drive Thursday night around 6:45 PM.

The driver of the car was hit by a bullet, according to police before crashing the car. A passenger in the car made the call to 911.

EPD said that Phelps and the passenger in the car were in a domestic dispute before the shooting. The driver of the car came to pick up the passenger from a home on Edgewood. Shortly after that is when officer said Phelps fired his gun multiple times from the front porch.

EPD said the driver's injuries were very serious, and he was taken to the hospital.

Phelps was arrested at the scene and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. He's charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal recklessness and possession of meth

 When Phelps was taken to the jail, officer determined that he was on methamphetamine.
