Cell Phone Information Bill Goes to Indiana House

- An Indiana House committee approves a bill that prohibits a police officer from downloading information from someone's cell phone without a warrant or the owner's consent.  The House Court and Criminal Codes Committee voted 6-2 in favor of the bill.

The bill says an officer can't download information from a cell phone or other device unless the officer has probable cause to believe the phone has been used in committing a crime, the information is downloaded under a search warrant or authorized by law.

The bill now goes to the full House.
