Kentucky Representative Ed Whitfield sponsors the bill which bans the practice of using chemicals to produce a high step for horses.

The issue centers on his wife. The complaint filed focuses on Connie Harriman Whitfield's lobbying efforts on the anti-soring bill. Congressman Whitfield says he started working on that bill before his wife got involved.

The House Ethics Committee could formally hear the case by November. Representative Whitfield is also facing pressure on a different issue. A second complaint was filed regarding land he once owned with another lobbyist at a West Virginia resort.

"We never built the house, and sold the property, the bank was paid off, and there's no money owed on it. So, that's what the story is about."
