Crisis counselors are meeting with Apollo High School students after one of their own died in an accident Thursday afternoon.

Taylor Michael Widmer, 16, died after his car left the road just after 4:00 PM Thursday.  School officials say he was a member of the school's football and wrestling teams.  Counselors met with football players and coaches about their loss.  Mike Flaherty, a student assistance coordinator with Daviess County Public Schools, says the best thing for students is to not keep their feelings inside.  He says counselors help students with any feelings or emotions that come up.

"What you try to do is get them to connect with their support system," he says. "That is the best thing that we can do is identify who it is they can
talk to when they need to, and to seek those people out."

Flaherty says it's better to share stories with others about any student whenever a situation like this happens.
