Three accidents involving motorcycles in three days - and Sunday's accident in Evansville was fatal.

Vanderburgh Sheriff's Deputies and the Evansville Fire Department were dispatched around 1:06 Sunday afternoon to the approach ramp of Veteran's Memorial Parkway to US-41 South.

Witnesses said 53-year-old Harry Eugene Meyer Jr. was heading southbound on the Veterans Memorial/US-41 South ramp when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a guardrail.

Meyer's was ejected approximately 150 ft. from his motorcycle into an embankment; the motorcycle continued across both lanes of traffic and ended in the median.

Meyer was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he died from his injuries.
He was not wearing a helmet.
The three serious motorcycle accidents in Vanderburgh county come at the same time the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office and many other law enforcement agencies around the tristate are conducting a traffic blitz.
Law enforcement agencies in Indiana, Illionis and Kentucky are stepping up patrols this Memorial weekend; targetting erradic driving behavior, impaired driving and seat belt enforcement.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding says the county often cruises through holidays without any major issues, but says, unfortunately, this has been a particularly deadly holiday weekend.

In addition to targeting unsafe driving behaviors, authorities are also warning folks to use common sense while heading out to lakes, rivers, and swimming pools this Memorial Day weekend.
