Chris Donahue tells Eyewitness News that the board had hoped to have a decision in hand by the end of this month. But now, thanks to Peoria's city council, that decison will now happen in July.
As you already know, the LST's contract with Evansville expires next year, leaving the door open for the ship to drop anchor elsewhere.
Donahue says they have yet to even see Peoria's proposal, but location is a huge factor in Illinois and here at home.
"The spot in Peoria was just really great, right there," said Donahue. "It would be the equivalent of Main St. and Riverside down here. So, then the mayor came up with this option that when land based gambling happens, Tropicana pulls their boat out of there and build a building, a land based casino, then we have the first right of refusal. So, we get that slip."
Peoria is supposed to present their proposal to lure the LST on June 24th. After that, the board of directors will make the final decision.
