Dubois Co. Water Main Break Caused by Lightning Strike

While strong storms tend to leave homeowners without power, some people in Dubois County woke up to no water this morning.

A lightning strike shattered a water main six feet below the ground. Crews say it happened around 4:30 a.m. in the Shiloh Estates neighborhood on Jasper's west side.

The strike interrupted water service for a short time in the area and lowered water pressure in parts of Jasper and Ireland.

A neighbor says the lightning strike also knocked out fuses in the breaker in his basement. He says the strike sounded like an explosion.
