At that time, CEO Rick Huffman said contractor bids were over budget and needed to be re-bid, noting that with the IU Medical School also being built downtown -- the sewer system needs to be reworked and the parking garage needs to be re-designed to add more parking spots
ERC President Randy Alsman came before council Monday to update them on the project. Councilwoman Connie Robinson, D-Ward 4, asked Alsman how much over budget the contractor bids were running. Alsman said he didn't know adding that, even if he did, he wouldn't be able to disclose such information.
During the meeting, Council Vice President Dr. Dan Adams, D-At Large, told Alsman the council would not approve any additional public funding. "I'm saying it's not an option," said Adams.
Construction is expected to begin shortly after Sept. 30, with expected completion in early 2016.
