Evansville Man Sentenced for Federal Firearm Charges

An Evansville man is sentenced on federal firearm charges, and it's not the first time he's been on the wrong side of the law.

27-year-old Basil Kamali was sentenced to 48 months in prison. He entered a guilty plea to knowingly receiving a firearm with intent to commit a robbery.

Police say Kamali set up a meeting at the west side Walmart in January of last year to buy a gun and ammo. But instead he was set-up by federal agents.

Kamali is a convicted felon and was on state parole for burglary and attempted armed robbery.
