An Evansville man will not serve prison time for an oil well investment scam.

John Shamo entered a guilty plea to fraud and failure to register securities.

A Posey County judge sentenced Shamo to two years of community corrections and two years of probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution to the people he ripped off.

Prosecutors say Shamo sold unregistered investment in oil wells.
