Following months of construction and millions of dollars in renovations, the Evansville Museum opens its doors to the public.

A ribbon cutting was held today, as the museum showed off its $14 million investment.

The cornerstone being the new Koch Immersive Theater, featuring a 40 foot diameter domed screen with a 360 degree digital projection.

Former Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel helped get the project going and says he's proud of the end result.

"It's a great to see this project come to completion especially the immersive theatre," said Weinzapfel. "I know my kids are just thrilled about the possibility of seeing shows there, and I talked to some of my friends who actually saw it in operation last night and they were just blown away."

Special tonight, the museum was free to the public until 8 p.m.
