Flooding Causes American Queen, Queen of Mississippi to Skip Henderson Stops

Some of the flooding in other parts of Kentucky is having an impact on the American Queen and Queen of Mississippi Steam Boats.
They were expected to dock in Henderson this week.

The American Queen actually cruised by Wednesday.

Henderson tourism officials say high water along other river towns caused some of the steam boats to change schedules a bit.
The Queen of the Mississippi was supposed to dock on Friday. When the steamboats don't stop, it's a missed opportunity for small businesses in downtown Henderson.

" It's economic development, they're eating in our restaurants, shopping in our shops.” She says you can always spot passengers because of the shopping bags they are carrying.

Hittner says the location where these steamboats usually dock in Henderson are in perfectly fine condition. It's other areas along the river that have caused the schedule swap.
