The plan was introduced nearly five years ago, but some wanted to wait until downtown was more developed. Several cities including Louisville, Lexington, and St. Louis already permit the trucks to operate.
"It's something that we thing would add some energy to downtown," said Director of Public Events Tim Ross. "We've got a lot of investment in downtown to build that core. We want to be able to add another entertainment element to it, if the business owners out there want it."
Ross says he plans to meet with Health Department officials on the plan soon. The food truck law may be done as soon as next month.
