Geese Enjoying Winter Vacation in Cold Weather

- We've been seeing more movement with the geese lately. They don't seem to mind the cold weather and the frozen ponds.

They look like they'd be freezing, but the ones Eyewitness News found at Garvin Park seemed to be getting along just fine.

Wildlife officials say some of the geese we're seeing here in the Tri-State have traveled from Canada and even Alaska.

"Their Summer range is going to be in the arctic tundra," said Julie McDonald of Audubon State Park. "So, when they come down here, this is their Winter vacation time."

It's important to mention the geese aren't just huddled up to stay warm. They also do that for protection.

It's not a good idea to try and approach them. They could be very defensive since they are new to the area.
