The governor of Indiana takes a field trip to the Tri-State. The topic of discussion is passing a preschool voucher program.

Governor Mike Pence was welcomed by Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. A state-funded Pre-K program is one of Pence's top priorities.

The Pre-K voucher pilot program aimed at low income families was passed by the House but gutted in the Senate. Lawmakers said they needed more to study the legislation before moving forward.

Pence praised efforts by lawmakers in the House and Senate but says expanding quality preschool to kids is paramount.

Pence also visited the Hola Outreach Center and will participate in the "I am Second" event tonight at the Old Post Office.
