Henderson County officials work to stop a heroin epidemic before it starts.

Officials say they are trying to be proactive about the drug by holding a public meeting.

Police, the medical community, and community members joined together talking about ways to keep heroin off the streets of Henderson.

Major Chip Stauffer with the police department says though meth is still the biggest drug dilemma, heroin is close behind.

The community worked together this evening finding a plan to help prevent heroin use in Henderson.
