The Kentucky House Health and Welfare Committee gives its approval to a state wide smoking ban.
The committee heard only several minutes of testimony from three supporters of the bill before voting to send the measure to the full House. Similar bills have been heard in the legislature in recent years, but none have passed.
Supporters say banning smoking in a public places, including work places, in Kentucky would save lives. Opponents say banning smoking should be up to the person who owns the bar, restaurant, work place, or property.
