Indiana Medicaid to Stop Paying Early, Elective Childbirths

- Indiana state officials are trying to decrease the risk of death or serious health issues in newborns.

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration announced a new Medicaid policy for early deliveries.

Starting July 1, Medicaid will not pay a hospital or physician for induced labor prior to 39 weeks unless a medical reason is provided.

It's part of the state's effort to improve infant mortality rate and the overall health of newborns.
