- Indianapolis is now experiencing the third snowiest January on the record and all of that snow is cutting into the city's bottom line. If the rest of the year is anything like its first 18 days, the city may run out of funds and quickly.Early estimates show the city has already spent more than 60% of its budget for snow removal. And budgets aren't dedicated to a winter season, they're set aside for the calendar year.  A Department of Public Works official confirmed the historic storm earlier this month cost the city roughly $5.1 million.
