A Marion County judge rules the state is not responsible for defending the private company that provided the stage that collapsed at the 2011 Indiana State Fair.

Mid-America Sound Corp. claimed Indiana should pay for their defense, since a contract signed with the State Fair Commission made the commission responsible for the stage once it was erected. The state disagreed.

More than five dozen lawsuits have been filed against Mid-America. Seven people were killed at the Sugarland concert, when storms prompted the stage to fall. 60 people were hurt.
