Changes are coming to how temporary tags for motor vehicles are produced in the Bluegrass State.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is changing the type of tag and will now print them in-house to save around $36,000 a year.

As part of the new process, temporary tags will be made of a new material with an embedded security feature. If copied, the duplicated tags will have void printed across them as you can see here.

Tags will also be made at Kentucky Transportation headquarters cutting shipping and production costs. Around 400,000 tags are printed each year.
