Liquor Store Robbery Suspect Arrested After Henderson Standoff

    A Tuesday night standoff in Henderson ends peacefully with the arrest of a suspect in several robbery and burglary cases.
    Police say they received a tip that William Payne was in a home in the 400 block of North Ingram Street.
    When officers arrived just after 8:30, residents in the home came out and said Payne was barricaded inside.
    According to police, there were no hostages involved, but negotiators were able to reach payne by phone before police made their move.
    Police say he is a suspect in a weekend robbery at Nolan's Liquor Store in Henderson.
    Police say Payne and Shi-teveren Pope stole more than a thousand dollars worth of cigarettes and liquor from the store early satruday morning.
    The clerk was hurt in the process.
    Police arrested Pope on Wednesday.
    Besides facing charges in the liquor store robbery, Payne also faces burglary charges in connection with a theft at the PCMA youth baseball office in Henderson.
    Detectives say this crime happened around the time of the liquor store robbery.
    Both Pope and Payne are being held in the Henderson County Jail.
