Alcoa announces it is permanently closing its Warrick County smelter, impacting hundreds of workers.
About 600 people will lose their jobs within the by the end of March. That's about a third of Alcoa's local workforce.
Alcoa says this is due to a dramatic drop in aluminum prices and that it changes are needed to stay competitive.
The rolling mill and power plant will remain in operation.
