Aleah Beckerle Memorial Nearly Complete

Work is nearly complete on a monument dedicated to an Evansville woman whose disappearance captured the Tri-State's attention for months.

On Tuesday, crews from 101 Landscaping donated their time and money to install bricks and plants at the heart-shaped memorial site for Aleah Beckerle. The site is near the greater Evansville Ball Hall of Fame.

Some of the bricks feature engraved notes from the community.

Organizer Tim Turpin says 100 bricks have been sponsored, but there's room for even more -

"Aleah was a special girl that grabbed a lot of hearts in the Tri-State. People from all over the country have bought bricks from Georgia, North Carolina, California, Florida so it's not only people outside of here but the local people. Plus, it's a tribute to team Aleah that spent all those hours searching for her."

Crews also finished up the landscaping around the memorial Tuesday. All that's left to do is finish cutting the bricks around the edges of the heart.

When the memorial is completed, there will be a bench and a large picture of Aleah engraved into granite.

The memorial will be dedicated on July 1.
