Arrest made in Mount Vernon attempted burglary investigation

MOUNT VERNON, IN (WEHT) - One person has been arrested and a warrant issued for a second suspect after an attempted burglary in Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon Police tell Eyewitness News that 31-year-old Jay Duncan was arrested and charged with attempted burglary with a deadly weapon.

Police say a warrant has also been issued for 30-year-old Kyle Dillard.

Tuesday night, authorities responded to a home on Southwind Avenue after the homeowner said two men broke into his home with a gun.

Police say that homeowner shot and injured one of the burglars.

That man was taken to a local hospital.  The other suspect ran away.

Investigators believe the homeowner and the burglars knew each other prior to this incident and it's not a random act.

Duncan is scheduled to appear in court February 19.
