Arson Suspect and Employer Arrested

Raider's employer allegedly dropped him off at a location to evade deputies.

An Evansville man accused of arson and his employer are now under arrest.

The Vanderburgh Co. Sheriff's Office tells us Anthony Raider, 41, allegedly crashed his car into a woman's car parked in a driveway on June 30. When the woman drove off to escape, authorities say Raider continued to chase her at high speeds and attempted a PIT maneuver, striking the back of her car. The woman reportedly escaped and authorities were unable to find Raider. Following the chase, officials say the victim filed a protective order against Raider.

Detectives were called to a structure fire shortly after 9 p.m. on July 2 at Dana Drive. McCutchanville and German Township Fire Departments reported the fire appeared to have been intentionally set inside the victim's home although no one as inside. At the same time, EFD and EPD responded to a car fire at a local business. Officials say that fire also appeared to have been intentionally set and belonged to the same victim who was working at the business.

While authorities searched for Raider, they reportedly questioned his employer, Michael Pease. Pease, 37, reportedly gave Raider information that deputies were looking for him after he as warned not to. Officials say Pease drove Raider to Hess Ave. in attempt to evade arrest.

Deputies arrested Raider in the 800 block of Hess Ave. on July 3 on arson, intimidation, criminal recklessness and hit-and-run charges. Authorities say Raider admitted to the allegations including setting both fires. He remains in Vanderburgh Co. jail with no bond.

Pease was charged with assisting a criminal.
