Boonville Middle School Cheer Coach Accused of Stealing Money from Booster Account

A Boonville Middle School cheerleading coach has been arrested following accusations that she stole money out of her own program's booster account.

April Maxey, 34, has been charged with felony theft charges. She's accused of taking about $7300 from the middle school's booster club account.

Maxey is the head coach of the school's cheerleading team.

The team's assistant coach and another teacher first reported the thefts to police.

Police say bank statements show Maxey used the checking account to make purchases in Warrick and Vanderburgh Counties, and even Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The booster account was supposed to be used for uniforms and competition fees for the cheerleading team.
