Boonville Reconsidering Wheel Tax

Boonville is reconsidering a proposed wheel tax that will help install and repair city sidewalks.

Mayor Charlie Wyatt says the city council will bring an amended version of the wheel tax ordinance back to the table next week.

On the first reading last month, the proposed tax was $25 per car.

Mayor Wyatt couldn't say what the amended tax would be.

The goal is installing new sidewalks that lead into downtown and around schools.

If the tax is passed, it would give the city upwards of $100,000 per year.

We'll keep watching for developments.
