Burdette Park Executive Director Fired

The executive director of Burdette Park has been fired and one Vanderburgh County official said it was done without cause.

County Councilman Joe Kiefer confirms Jacob Murphy has been let go after holding the position since January 2015.

Kiefer said that Murphy's termination appears to be a political maneuver.

Kiefer said park attendance had improved under Murphy and that Murphy saved the county more than $100,000 with improvements to the park.

Murphy will be replaced by both Pat and Z Tuley.

Eyewitness News has tried to reach out to Vanderburgh County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave, but our phone calls have not yet been returned.

Murphy told Eyewitness News by phone that he wishes burdette the best in the future and is looking for other careers to pursue in Vanderburgh County.
