Arrest made in shooting; coroner identifies victim

Update

Evansville Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting on Sunday in the 2800 block of E Riverside Dr.

Officers said 41-year-old Keith Kessinger was found dead when they arrived on the scene Sunday.

The suspect, 47-year-old Robert Mills, was still at the home and was taken into custody according to police.

Police said they were told the men knew each other and that the victim was allowed into the home before the shooting happened.

According to authorities, Mills alluded to the shooting being self-defense but he did not give a formal statement to investigators.

Mills was charged with murder.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office and the Evansville Police Department have identified the victim of an apparent homicide.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Keith Kessinger.

According to the coroner, Kessinger died in the 2800 block of East Riverside Dr. on Sunday.

An autopsy has been scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said they have a suspect in custody and a couple people are being interviewed about the man's death.
