Crash Closes I-69 for Nearly Four Hours

Traffic is back to normal on I-69 near Boonville New Harmony after a chain reaction crash involving eight vehicles.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the scene just after 7 a.m. Monday.

Deputies say a tractor trailer was traveling southbound on I-69 when it collided with a line of stopped vehicles in a construction zone.

 


 

 

 

 

 

The tractor trailer collided with one vehicle, setting off a chain reaction which resulted in five other vehicles being hit. One vehicle was struck by debris.

Three people were taken to the hospital. One person is being treated for a head injury.

 


 

 

 

 

 

The crash closed southbound I-69 for nearly four hours for investigation and clean-up.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation pending a full crash reconstruction and toxicology results.
