House Torn Down After Major Fire in Central City

Two people are severely burned during a house fire in Central City Saturday.

It happened around 2 p.m. in the 100 block of South 8th Street.

Authorities say three people were inside the home when it started -  two of them suffered second and third degree burns.
A neighbor and another resident helped pull them out of the home.

"I was inside asleep,” said Jasmine Sorrels, “I smelled smoke while I was dreaming. I heard screaming. I woke up and the whole room was filled with smoke. I ran outside the house, down to the outside basement door where I heard Tee and Jess screaming. The guy up the road, our neighbor, came and we drug them out."

The two injured were taken to a Louisville hospital.

The house was later torn down due to structural concerns.
