Former Black Township Trustee Accused of Misusing Funds

A deceased former Trustee of Black Township in Posey County is being accused of using township funds for personal expenses, according to a State Board of Accounts investigation.

Our media partner the Evansville Courier & Press reports an audit released on Monday shows Lindsay Suits allegedly used more than $30,000 in funds to pay for mortgage, cell phone payments, and personal expenses for a relative.

This allegedly happened from 2011 to 2015.

Suits died in August at age 38 from cancer.

The audit is seeking reimbursement from her estate of about $31,000 to the township plus $20,000 to cover the investigation's cost.
