Deputies say there is no active threat against the South Gibson School District

Classes were cancelled on Friday due to a possible threat

GIBSON COUNTY (WEHT) - The Gibson County Sheriff's Office tells Eyewitness News that there is currently no active threat against the South Gibson School District.

All schools in that district were closed Friday due to possible threats.

Superintendent Dr. Stacey Humbaugh tells Eyewitness News those possible threats originated on social media.

The superintendent believes the threat was a repost on Snapchat from another district, threatening something would happen at another nearby district Friday.

School officials said they now have no reason to believe the threat was targeting the district.

They are unsure where the threat originated.

All remaining activities for Friday are still canceled as a precaution.
