Child Dies in ATV Crash, Name Released

DNR confirms 11-year-old boy died in the crash.

The identity of the boy that died in an ATV crash Tuesday afternoon has been released.

Mitchell Steckler, 11, of Haubstadt was taken to the Gibson General Hospital in Princeton following an ATV crash.

We are told he later died at the hospital.

Authorities confirm a child is dead after an ATV crash.

Indiana Conservation Officer Matt Clark tells us it happened around 3:15 Tuesday afternoon. An 11-year-old boy was driving a side-by-side in a field off of County Road 350 South in Gibson County.

Conservation Officer Clark says the vehicle flipped over, the boy was ejected, and the ATV landed on him. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet and did not appear to have a restraint device. He died at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, IN.

Conversation Officers do not release the identities of juvenile victims.
