Driver in Daviess Co. ATV Crash has Died

The Daviess County Sheriff's Office says the driver in an ATV crash on Sunday has died.

The sheriff's office says 32-year-old Kenneth "Blake" Roberts died on Monday from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Deputies say Roberts was driving a Polaris RAZR ATV-type vehicle in the 7100 block of Highway 144 just before 3:30 p.m. on Sunday when the crash happened.

Roberts was employed by the Owensboro Police Department and was in his sixth week of training to become a police officer.

A passenger, Lewis Varble, was taken to Owensboro Regional Health Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other passengers escaped with no injuries. A fifth person, John Holley, suffered a minor laceration.

Authorities say none of the five people were wearing helmets and that they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
