Coroner: Murder Victim Died from Gunshot to Head

Update

An autopsy on Amber Herron has been completed. As a result, the Vanderburgh County Coroner said it was determined that Herron died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

The death has been ruled a homicide.

The Evansville Police has an ongoing investigation and can provide updated details.

Original Story

The Evansville Police Department said that 37-year-old Charles Herron told a neighbor that he may have killed his wife.

Police said Herron told a neighbor he was involved in a domestic dispute that escalated into murder.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner identified the victim as 33-year-old Amber Herron. According to the coroner's office, she died at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for 1:00 PM.

No cause of death has been released.

Evansville Police said Herron was found dead in a car around 10 PM Tuesday night.

According to the Vanderburgh County Coroner, police have been on the scene, one block west of Highway 41, since late Tuesday.
