Evansville Man Allegedly Holds up Convenience Store with Knife

An Evansville man is charged with robbery after police say he held up a convenience store with a knife.

The clerk at the Thornton's on East Morgan Avenue says Ronald Griffith, 41, demanded $700 from behind the counter on Sunday morning.

When Griffith displayed an open knife, the clerk says he opened the cash register, and Griffith grabbed what was inside.

Police say Griffith rode away on a mountain bike, but was stopped by officers near Walnut Street and Kerth Avenue.

Griffith is currently being housed at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
