Evansville Man Charged with Dealing Methamphetamine

On Thursday, authorities were driving north on Baker approaching Tennessee Street in Evansville when they say they observed several people in an alley.

Authorities entered the alley when they say four people were standing next to a vehicle with its lights out near a garage. Detectives tell Eyewitness News that it appeared to them the subject had been burglarizing the garage behind Tennessee Street.

Authorities activated their emergency lights and say Steven Stevens, 33, exited the vehicle and moved against the door to obscure detectives from seeing his actions.

A plastic bag was reportedly found on the ground containing a set of digital scales and a plastic bag containing a substance that tested positive for synthetic cannabinoids.

Authorities also say a sunglasses case was found containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

After performing a pat-down on Stevens, authorities reportedly found a small metal tin on his person with baggies inside containing a substance that tested positive for meth.

Stevens also allegedly had a small amount of marijuana inside a corner baggy of his shoe.

Stevens was charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine and Writ of Attachment and lodged in Vanderburgh County Jail.
