Federal Fugitive Arrested in Hopkins County

A federal fugitive was apprehended in Nortonville by several law enforcement agencies on Monday.

Jonathan Wilson was located by members of the Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit in the Grapevine area operating a red pickup truck.

Detectives attempted to stop Wilson and a vehicle pursuit then began, according to authorities.

Wilson allegedly fled to Hubert Reid Drive (KY 2171) and then allegedly traveled through Earlington, Mortons Gap, and Nortonville via US 41. Authorities said Wilson was driving at a high rate of speed and disregarding traffic control devices.

Once in Nortonville, Wilson and Lindsey Daniels both allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot, while Virginia Payne allegedly continued fleeing law enforcement in the pickup truck. Authorities suspect this was an attempt to lead law enforcement away from Wilson and Daniels.

Payne wrecked the pickup on Hermitage Rd., according to authorities.

A perimeter was established in the area by the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, Madisonville Police, and Kentucky State Police. All three individuals were eventually apprehended.

Authorities said the apprehension was successful due to all the agencies coordinating and working together, along with the help of concerned citizens in the area calling in sightings of the wanted subjects.
