Former Owensboro Firefighter Laid to Rest

A former Owensboro firefighter was laid to rest on Monday afternoon.

David McCrady died last week at the age of 50.

In 2013, McCrady was diagnosed with brain cancer – forcing him to retire after more than two decades on the job.

He helped push for changes to Kentucky law, allowing for families whose loved one dies of cancer to be eligible for line of duty death benefits.

The funeral service was held at St. Stephen's Cathedral.

It was heavily attended by members of the Owensboro community, including first responders who served along with McCrady.
