Gerrod Pointer Sentenced to 60 Years

Pointer was convicted of killing Maurice Heyward in Febrary 2016.

An Evansville murder case is now over as a man from Tennessee learns his fate in the form of prison time.

Vanderburgh County Circuit Court Judge David Kiely sentenced Gerrod Pointer, 27, to 60 years in prison.

He was convicted of murder in May.

The jury found that Pointer did in fact shoot and kill Maurice Heyward in February 2016 outside the Lucky Lady lounge on North Main Street.

Pointer is originally from Clarksville, Tennessee.
