Gov. Rauner Starts Campaign to Showcase Illinois Classrooms

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner announced on his Facebook page that he wants classrooms to submit videos showcasing what they're learning and how. The event is for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, and it's called #GovClassroomVisit.

The videos can focus on anything from computer or technology projects to hands-on assignments and everything in between.

The governor plans to do a Learning Tour where he will visit several schools throughout the state to highlight the hard work and creativity of teachers and students.

The video submissions will help the governor determine some of his first schools on the tour.

Entries should be no longer than five minutes in length.

They'll be accepted from January 12 through February 10 at 5 p.m.

They should be sent to govclassroomvisit@illinois.gov.

Three finalists will be selected and posted to the governor's Facebook page.

The people of Illinois will be able to cast votes to determine which school the governor should visit first.
