Henderson city officials support medical marijuana bill

Some people in Henderson urge local leaders to support medical marijuana.

Several asked the Henderson City Commission to pass a resolution supporting legalization of medical cannabis in Kentucky. Advocates say it's for legitimate patients with serious conditions.

Commissioners responded to emotional testimony from people like Grace Henderson with a unanimous yes to pass the resolution.

"That means everything to me," said Henderson, "because I've tried to become a medical refugee, and it didn't work. I can't leave my support system, and my family, my loved ones, everyone that takes care of me and helps me get through everyday just to have a safer option for medication. It's unacceptable."

Mayor Steve Austin briefly hesitated but said the stories he heard on Tuesday night compelled him to vote yes.
